Waiting on Wednesday 8-7-2013

Here's a few books I'm really excited for. Not in any order, but I will probably buy the 1st 2. Kiersten White is awesome, and I love the Beautiful Dark series by Jocelyn Davies. But if anyone's got an ARC to spare....I just want to read The Chaos of Stars that bad. Hope the cover's metallic!!! Or opaline/pearly (Like the cover of Earthbound or Nightshade or Hush, Hush)
I really excited for All Our Yesterdays because the trailer I saw on Hollywood Crush. Time travel stuff, also cool.

Waiting on Wednesday 8-29

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which every Wednesday bloggers talk about a book that they are eagerly anticipating the release of."
What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang
Series: The Hybrid Chronicles (bk. 1)
Release Date: September 18
Publisher: HarperTeen
Description: “Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t…
For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable–hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet…for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.”
Love the cover. The face silhouette. The story sounds very unique, kind of strange. Reminds me of the Host, with Wanderer taking over Melanie’s body, and Melanie still there, holding on.
There’s an art contest hosted by the author’s blog, called the Katacomb. You make something for the hybrid or twin category. Here’s what I entered for twins.

Origin Olympics/Waiting on Wednesday 8-22

Origin by Jessica Khoury

Release Date: September 4
Publisher: Penguin: Razorbill
Description: “Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home—and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.
Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin—a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever.
Origin is a beautifully told, shocking new way to look at an age-old desire: to live forever, no matter the cost. This is a supremely compelling debut novel that blends the awakening romance of Matched with the mystery and jungle conspiracy of Lost.”
There’s been a ton of buzz on this book. It make me this of a sci-fi version of Renesme from Breaking Dawn. Remember the Amazon vamps with the half-vampire son? Yeah, something like that. I saw the trailer for this book, and now I totally want to buy a copy.

Check out this awesome giveaway called the Origin Olympics by the author of the book: http://jnkhoury.blogspot.com/p/origin-olympics_20.html

Defiance by C.J. Redwine
Series: Defiance bk. 1
Release Date: August 28
Publisher: HarperTeen: Balzer & Bray
Description: “Within the walls of Baalboden, beneath the shadow of the city’s brutal leader, Rachel Adams has a secret. While other girls sew dresses, host dinner parties, and obey their male Protectors, Rachel knows how to survive in the wilderness and deftly wield a sword. When her father, Jared, fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector, her father’s apprentice, Logan—the same boy Rachel declared her love for two years ago, and the same boy who handed her heart right back to her. Left with nothing but fierce belief in her father’s survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself. But treason against the Commander carries a heavy price, and what awaits her in the Wasteland could destroy her.
At nineteen, Logan McEntire is many things. Orphan. Outcast. Inventor. As apprentice to the city’s top courier, Logan is focused on learning his trade so he can escape the tyranny of Baalboden. But his plan never included being responsible for his mentor’s impulsive daughter. Logan is determined to protect her, but when his escape plan goes wrong and Rachel pays the price, he realizes he has more at stake than disappointing Jared.”
I am so excited for this book. Just looking at the cover, I know it’s gonna be awesome. And the description. Post-apocalyptic fantasy? A new kind of dystopian book.
Here’s the awesome drawing I made based of the cover:
I put it on EpicReads, they tweeted about it, and the author said “This totally rocked my face off.”

Maximum Ride: Nevermore
by James Patterson

The. Last. MR. Book. Ever.
Is she going to choose Fang or Dylan? Is she going to save the world? Will she die? Will they all die? I want a happy ending.
Who else is excited about this book? Who's sad about the end?

The book comes out August 7th. 9 days before my birthday.  probably buy it early, and read it right away. I hope it's longer than the last few books. Like 400-500 pages. Less than 300 is very disappointing. Especially for a finale.

Look at that cover! They actually made the wings look mostly right. The girl still looks NOTHING like max. Her hair's too straight and light.

Waiting of Wednesday 6-6

Endlessy by Kiersten White
"Try as she might, Evie can’t seem to escape her not-so-normal past. And what was supposed to be a blissfully normal school break is ruined when a massive group of paranormals shows up at her house, claiming that Evie is the only one who can protect them from a mysterious, perilous fate.

The deadly war between the faerie courts looms ever closer. The clock is ticking on the entire paranormal world. And its future rests solely in Evie’s hands.

So much for normal.

With a perfect blend of humor and suspense, Endlessly is everything readers could dream of in a conclusion—and the unexpected twists will keep them guessing until the very last page."

I absolutely CANNOT wait to read this book!!! I hope Meijers has a copy at lest two weeks early so I can read it and blog it. I don't want  and ARC. I want the hardcover. I love this cover! Waiting on Wednesday 5-30

Just For Fins by Tera Lynn Childs
It comes out July 3rd.

From Goodreads:
"When Lily Sanderson decided to remain Crown Princess Waterlily of the mermaid kingdom Thalassinia, she knew she couldn’t just coast along in the current. But since she’s spent the last couple of years on land—with gorgeous human Quince by her side—Lily’s not sure she has the fins to lead a kingdom. Even her maddeningly pretentious cousin Dosinia seems to know more about ruling than she does.

But Lily has to dive in deep to keep her promise to Tellin, her mer bond in name only, whose kingdom is suffering in the changing ocean climate. Lily knows this is a seven seas–sized problem: from sea animals dying to oil spills and threats to humans. They’ll need to create some serious waves to make the mer community aware and get it to join together to make things right. Even if that means facing one of the iciest queens in the mer kingdoms.

Just when Lily thinks her double life on land and sea can’t get any more complicated, an ancient mer law might separate Lily and Quince after all. It feels as if the pair is up against a solid tsunami wave!

In this third installment in the series that began with Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, Lily will have to find a way to balance safety and justice for the mer people as well as for the humans she loves."

I can't wait to see how everything turns out for Lily. This is the funnest Mermaid series I've ever read and everytime I look a the covers, I get even more excited. I think the green/teal hair is cool. So many mermaid books this summer!

Mirage by Kristi Cook

Series: Winterhaven (bk. 2)

Release Date: June 5th

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Description: “Seventeen-year-old Violet McKenna is back for her senior year at Winterhaven, and thrilled to be with Aidan after a long summer apart. But when a violent and disturbing vision begins to haunt her, Violet suddenly feels unsure of everything: who to trust, if she is in danger, and—worst of all—whether she and Aidan are really meant to be together.”

Can’t wait to feel the Aiden Effect again! I loved the first book. It was like X-men in that it’s a school for psychics, and Aiden’s a vamp.

Tempest Unleashed by Tracy Deebs
Series: Tempest (bk. 2)

Release Date: June 5th

Publisher: Walker (Bloomsbury)

Description: “Tempest Maguire is happy with her decision to embrace her mermaid nature and live among her mother’s clan within the ocean’s depths. Even though training to one day ascend the throne for the aging mermaid queen is rigorous, she finds refuge in the arms of Kona, the selkie who first opened her up to her mermaid side. But when word comes that one of her brothers has been gravely injured on land, Tempest immediately rushes to his side—which also brings her back to her old flame, Mark. And in her absence, a deadly battle begins raging at the hands of Tempest’s old nemesis, the sea witch Tiamat. As the dangerous war erupts, Tempest’s two loves—Kona and Mark, sea and land—will collide for the first time, both to protect her and to force her to choose.”

The cover on this one is sooooo much better than the 1st one’s!!! I can’t wait to read this. Kona is so hot for a guy who can turn into a seal (He the Jacob Black of the ocean!!! :P) This probably is the best mermaid series I’ve ever read, or at least the most romantic/sexy one. I’m so excited!

Endure by Carrie Jones
Series: Need (bk. 4)

Release Date: May 8th

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Description: “It’s all-out war (and no-holds-barred romance) in the climactic conclusion to Carrie Jones’s bestselling series.

Zara is at the center of an impending apocalypse. True, she’s successfully rescued Nick from Valhalla, but it simply isn’t enough. Evil pixies are ravaging Bedford, and they need much more than one great warrior; they need an army. Zara isn’t sure what her role is anymore. She’s not just fighting for her friends; she’s also a pixie queen. And to align her team of pixies with the humans she loves will be one of her greatest battles yet. Especially since she can’t even reconcile her growing feelings for her pixie king . . .

Unexpected turns, surprising revelations, and one utterly satisfying romantic finale make Endure a thrilling end to this series of bestsellers”

This series is so funny. Zara is always cracking me up. I’m so happy that Nick’s back. I really want her to be with him and not the pixie guy. This book is also the last of the series, which means I’ll be very disappointed after I’m done with it. I hope it ends well. I really like the setting and everything. I’m gonna miss it!

Dreamless by Josephine Angelini
Series: Starcrossed (bk. 2)

Release Date: May 29th

Publisher: HarperTeen

Description: “As the only Scion that can enter Hades at will, Helen descends to the Underworld in search of a way to overcome the Furies and end the cycle of revenge that has cursed the Scions. As an unforgettable love triangle emerges, Josephine Angelini’s compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding. The eagerly awaited sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed, Dreamless delivers with a huge emotional impact that will leave readers satisfied—and longing for more.”

Sequel! So excited! The 1st book was awesome! Helen’s like super girl plus lightning powers! And Lucas is so hot! The only problem I had with the book was the length, but everything else was great. This book is 487 pgs, a bit longer. But I love mythology and can’t wait to read some more!

Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless. “

First off, this is the final book in the series. The cover is supposed to be a winter faery blossom (Wings was Fall, Spells was Spring, Illusions was Summer). I thinks it’s awesome that we were introduced to Yuki. I’m really excited to see what happens! I love both David and Tamani! What will be the twist? Is she going to choose? Or is someone going to die? I hope David doesn’t die!!!

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which every Wednesday bloggers talk about a book that they are eagerly anticipating the release of.

I'm  really excited for the sequel of Veronica Roth's Divergent. I'm from Chicagoland, so the dystopian version is really interesting and scary.

"One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature." (Goodreads)

IT COMES OUT IN MAY!!! Just look at that awesome cover. It's Amity's symbol, peace!

Fated by Alyson Noel (Soul Seekers bk. 1)

I cannot tell you how much I want to read this book. I mean, look at the cover! It's freaking awesome!!! It just scream I AM GOING TO BE A SHINY METALLIC COVER!!! BUY ME!!! I love the birds and those earings. Dreamcatchers! I have a ton of dreamcatchers on my wall. I collect Native American Art (Mostly Navajo and Hopi. Southwestern art). The model looks slightly like Selena Gomez. I think they could have done more with the title, but it's okay.

Goodreads description:
"Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. Worried that Daire is having a nervous breakdown, her mother packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico with a grandmother she’s never met.

"There she crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes who she’s encountered before...but only in her dreams. And she’ll get to know her grandmother—a woman who recognizes Daire’s bizarre episodes for what they are. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy."

This book sounds so awesome! I read the Immortals and Riley Bloom series. I cannot wait to see what Alyson has done this time!
